Tacos, but tradition has been broken!

our Roots

In 2011, the Chicagoland area welcomed a fresh concept that combined innovation with a timeless love for great food. Rick and Julie VanBuren, fueled by their fascination with the food truck trend, decided to embark on a culinary journey by investing in a food truck. Based in Bolingbrook, Illinois, they named their venture "Fire It Up," inspired by the enthusiastic rallying cry "Let’s go fire up the truck; let’s fire it up!"

From its inception, Fire It Up quickly carved out a niche for itself by offering unique, homemade eats that captured the interest and taste buds of locals. The food truck movement was more than just a passing trend; it was a revolution that emphasized creativity and accessibility in dining. Rick and Julie's culinary creations, infused with their personal touch, resonated with a growing audience that hungered for elevated street food.

As the years rolled on, a deeper dive into the food system blossomed into a broader purpose. They realized that their commitment to serving delicious food went beyond just taste; it was about the entire experience surrounding food production and consumption. With this newfound clarity, they began to make meaningful changes in the sourcing of their ingredients.

The restaurant shifted its focus toward cleaner food practices, placing a premium on local and high quality ingredients. This transformation was not merely a marketing strategy; it was a heartfelt commitment to providing their customers with wholesome, nutritious meals that honored their values.

Recognizing an opportunity for growth, in 2013, the decision was made to transition into a brick-and-mortar restaurant located in Naperville, Illinois. This pivotal move not only allowed them to reach a wider audience but also to establish a more permanent place in a thriving community.

The restaurant quickly gained recognition, showcasing its culinary delights on the popular television series, 'Chicago's Best,' hosted by Brittney Payton. The feature catapulted the restaurant, attracting food enthusiasts from all corners of the city. The secret behind their success went beyond just flavor; it was their commitment to excellent customer service that consistently produced smiles and fostered a positive atmosphere within the dining space.

Week after week, patrons returned not just for the delicious food but for the warmth and friendliness that greeted them upon arrival. The team thrived on creating an inviting environment where every customer felt valued, contributing to a sense of community among taco lovers.

However, as fate would have it, March 17, 2020, brought about an unprecedented challenge that would alter the restaurant landscape forever. The pandemic hit, and with it came a wave of lockdowns and strict regulations that lasted well over a year. The restaurant, once bustling with the aroma of tantalizing tacos and the sounds of joyous conversations, faced a new reality.

Curbside pick-up became the norm, and the restaurant's hours were significantly shortened, leaving a dedicated staff grappling with the pressures of a rapidly changing environment. The heartfelt interactions that had characterized their service were now replaced with quick exchanges at the curbside.

In a world filled with uncertainties, Rick, Julie, and their boys took a courageous step towards a brighter future for themselves by relocating to Woodstock, Georgia. This leap of faith was not just a change of scenery, but a commitment to fostering a life rich with opportunities, community, and a shared love for great food.

With the picturesque landscapes and vibrant atmosphere of Woodstock as their backdrop, the VanBuren's set out to create a hub of positivity and enjoyment. Their mission is clear: to bring delicious, high-quality food and beverages to the people of Georgia while actively supporting the community.

At the heart of their vision is a commitment to bringing people together. They believe in the power of community and recognize that local partnerships are essential for creating memorable experiences. Whether it's a cozy gathering for families, a place for friends to convene, or a local partnership, the VanBuren family is determined to make their establishment a welcoming space.

Dedication goes beyond just providing great food. They are passionate about cultivating an upbeat environment that elevates the dining experience. Customers can expect not only exceptional cuisine but also a warm ambiance infused with positivity. Every meal shared in their establishment is a celebration of life, community, and well-being.

The journey to Woodstock represents much more than a mere relocation. It is a heartfelt mission to enhance the lives of their family, their community, and everyone who walks through their doors. They invite you to join them in this exciting venture, to share in the joy of great food, the warmth of community, and the assurance of well-being.
